We really need a change in Detroit politics and it needs to start with a complete overhaul, and the electing of more ordinary citizens into political office. That was the idea behind Term Limits, and I believe it was a good idea meant to stimulate the involvement of citizens as officeholders, but it has never been achieved. We have career officeholders, recycled candidates moving from office to office, and name recognition candidates that depend on such things as another family members' political reputation (or myth) to get elected. This trend is killing Detroit, and our entire state.
We continually vote for, and are getting stuck with arrogant, complacent and in the case of the Mayor, and City Council, down right "Looney Toon" elected officials. We need real people, concerned people, honest people to be an example to other ordinary citizens to stand up! We can make change, together...not just hope, or wait for it!

Experienced Cons; the candidates that are trying to mislead voters in District 6
I Google searched (on the Internet) the names of my opponents in the election for District 6 and found the "Red Flags" listed below. Politics in Michigan, and especially in Detroit has become a circus. From the possible state government shut down a while ago, to the recent FBI probes of city officials about the Synagro contract. Also, with the City Council “Shrek incident” and the Mayor’s text message scandal, Navigator and Manoogian Mansion allegations. We as citizens deserve better representation, but our challenge is to STOP electing candidates on name recognition, and stop letting PAC and interest group endorsements like the Black Slate and Fannie Lou Hamer make our decisions for us when it comes to electing officials in Detroit. Members of these groups often have biased affiliations and/or relationships with the candidates that they support. My campaign is a grassroots movement for changing how politics is done in Michigan. I do not have the financial backing that my opponents have, but I guarantee that they don’t have the character, honesty, dedication or responsiveness that I will bring to this office. These opponents listed below are running misleading campaigns and depending on a voter turnout that will base their choice on who’s lawn signs they see more often, or whom some political group like the Black Slate is endorsing rather than the issues concerning District 6. If that is the case then we are saying that we approve of how things are going in this state, and in Detroit. But, I say, we can no longer afford to be mislead in District 6 by jive talking politicians; People are paying for past election choices like these with their home values decreasing, foreclosures, job loss and their very lives, as victims of crime in a desperate community. Durhal, is running a misleading RE-ELECTION campaign. He has NEVER been elected in OUR District ...He only finished the remainder of Kwame Kilpatrick's term (5 months)when Kilpatrick was elected Mayor. He was not re-elected in that district (Hmmm), and now he thinks if he says Re-ELECT in District 6 that makes him look like an incumbent, but it will really make us in District 6 look like fools if we elect him."
Fred Durhal - Questionable background with possible connections involving housing issues when he was a city official in Highland Park. He is running a re-election campaign in District 6 but he was never elected in THIS district, which is misleading. He has bounced around, running in more than one district and hasn’t remained in one position long enough to suggest that he has any real commitment.

Reggie Fluker - Does he really reside in Detroit (District 6) or maybe Troy or some place other than District 6 in Detroit. He is a Real Estate agent and his campaign headquarters “The Home Office Center” at 5832 Second Blvd is also one of his local Real Estate offices. the other office is in Troy. This does not seem to be the place where he lays his head at night, but a good front, and address for a open House seat. He claims to be a former Police Officer. What are his real motives and can we risk electing him. He has run for this office, and for Register of Deeds before and lost both.
Shelia Dapremont - Questionable background in business and finance with New Era Demolition, LLC. For which she is a managing partner (owner).
Brian White - Cousin of Rev. Wendell Anthony (founder of Fannie Lou Hamer PAC) one of Mayor Kilpatricks supporters, and good friends. Can we risk more Kilpatrick ties.
